Why do european cars have MUCH better milage than american?
I was on a few of the european car websites for Ford and Chevy etc., and I noticed that most of the cars are getting more than 45 mpg. Why is that, do they have better cars or what?
Why doesn't some of the car companies bring some of their "low power" cars to the US, they'll make a fortune if they do!!!
The milage I looked at was petroleum combined mpg
If you are looking at the gasoline MPGs in Europe, keep in mind that their definition of "gallon" is different from the U.S..
A U.S. gallon is 3.785 liters.
An Imperial (UK) gallon is 4.546 liters.
A bigger gallon means you can go more miles on one.
Also, more than 50% of the passenger cars sold in Europe are diesels-- Those typically get more miles per gallon of fuel than gasoline.
